Feedelity - new 12"

From Feedelity…new single ‘music (in my mind)’ 12” vinyl in stores now…

The track ‘Limitations’ from Lindstroms Untitled EP (the first feedelity-release) is licensed to a number of compilations, among others the new DJ-KICKS compiled by Chicken Lips on !K7 … This track is one of the few contemporary tracks in a mix consisting of mostly rare and obscure disco, boogie, and dubtracks from german punk-queen Nina Hagen, european krautrockers Brainticket, and US post-disco-genious Arthur Russell among others. The EP gains heavy rotation from djís such as Idjut Boys, Chicken Lips, Daniel Wang, DJ Harvey, Jon Dasilva and Rainer Truby…

Ray Mang - "Big Bambu"

Ray Mang’s “Big Bambu” oh that sounds really rude ! But it’s not rude. It is infact the forthcoming release by the legendary Raj Gupta. Known around the globe for being the man behind the man with various engineering projects under his belt. He also blessed us with the Block 16 LP and has remixed some real big hitters! The Akwaaba remix on the flip is a deep chugger that sounds amazing on a Saturday night and even better on Sunday morning. Nice one boys!

Stevie Kotey

Immagine 032.jpgStevie got his first taste for music at 16 working for Audio one studios in Soho London, A promotion from tea boy to tape operator gave him a chance to sit in on various pop productions and also confirmed his urge to get into the music biz.

Well a lot has happened in 15 years and many good things have happened to Stevie. In 1996 the classic “Jus Pilau” was released on the most sought after label of its time Discfunction. Yes Paul N. Murphy, Tom Lee and Stevie Kotey the fearsome trio aka Akwaaba (meaning welcome in Ghanaian) had they’re music coveted by many of the hottest dj’s worldwide with comments in the press (musik mag) “When an old stalwart like Francois Kevorkian batters one of your tracks down at Body & Soul then you know you’re onto something”. Indeed Francois used Jus Pilau on his amazing essential mix and Ron Trent also worked it on his Musical Reflections CD 2002.

Akwaaba went on to make two LP’s namely Do it Tomorrow and Too Shiny which both had success on Discfunction.

Then in 2000 Stevie gave us the aptly titled Pantyskills EP also on Discfunction. This was also the time when Stevie decided to take a gamble and start something up. With the help of many friends Bear Entertainment was born. The Bear started with a few cheeky disco edits here and there which instantly brought many like minded people together from around the globe.

Bear Entertainment then had some up’s and down’s with various distributors coming and going, and at one point Stevie thought it best to stop releasing music. But that would be too easy so he carried on (a good thing)

Bear Entertainment is now one of the world’s most talked about independent disco distribution companies. With a catalogue of music that ranges from Disco to Balearic and from Funk to Acid house The Bear is known for it’s love of weird music and stupid humour. (check out www.bearentertainment.info) But on a more serious tip the labels has brought us music from Idjut Boys, Chicken Lips, Lindstrom, Dj Kent, Prins Thomas, Theo Parrish, Brennan Green, Fuzz Against Junk, Todd Terje, Ray Mang, Mudd, Nick Chacona, Fabrizio Mammarella and of course Stevie himself. Bear Entertainments A&R repertoire reads like the who’s who of wonky disco but that’s not all.

In 2002 Stevie joined forces with his Stafford amigos Chicken Lips. Andy and Dean the were long time admires of Stevie’s skills as a DJ and they also shared a common interest in oddball disco and rock productions of yesteryear. With this in mind the trio was formed and Stevie took on the task of taking the Chicken Lips sound around the globe spreading the gospel of all things LIPS and playing records in his own unique way. Since then Stevie has played and toured Australia, America, Mexico, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Austria and UK to name a few. He has also compiled with Andy and Dean the Chicken Lips DJ KICKS mix on!K7 2003 and more recently Stevie compiled the deep and excellent “Clicks Acid and Disco” for Trust the DJ released March 2005. With a broad spectrum of influences his sets can be his first love disco to the late night sound of the trust the DJ compilation, “He loves to tweak the eq and play his edits fantastic” said Liquid Room Tokyo.

But Stevie is NOT only the DJ for chicken lips he has collaborated with Andy and Dean to produce the punked up sound of Crazy Girl “Bad Skin”. He has also remixed “Sweet Cow” from the new and eagerly awaited Chicken Lips LP released later this year (2005). Stevie is also working with Andy Meecham and Chaz Jankel and many other artists for his LORDY project which will also finish it’s first LP this year.

In the past few month’s Stevie has remixed Yo Retro (Deep Freeze), Chicken Lips (Kingsize), Lindstrom (Feedelity) and Stratus (Klein). Watch out for the BEARFUNK Rools for Rules compilation mixed by Stevie this year too. No rest for the wicked!

…is a special stamp of approval for “in the bush” by japanese producer DJ Kent that Theo Parrish fell in love with the after hearing it in a shop in japan and now remixed this heavy funkbomb. Definitely one to stay in your box for ages - timeless music!

Fabrizio Mammarella

Fabrizio-Mammarella-photo.jpg
Fabrizio was born in 1982 in Italy and has always had a love and passion for music.

Growing up he was exposed to many different musical genres and got involved in record collecting at a very early age.

Eventually the desire to express his own ideas in music was the next logical step for him. He started working with computers in 2002, recording tracks and collaborating with Giulio Michetti who plays the guitar. Their music fuses traces of disco, rock, funk, jazz and electronica.

These days heís working on some new ideas in the studio and will hopefully have some new music out very soon.

Crazy Girl

Crazy Girl aka Tiff McGinnis aka the artist formerly known as chantilly, got sick and tired of waitin around for labels to listen to her demo, so she decided to start her own - burnt offerings. “it’s bitchin” is the first single. the girl called crazy, with the help of mat ducasse of skylab & pete z of block 16, has created an epic anthem dedicated to her lowrider bicycle. this song has a heavy beat and power, it will definitely make you bob your head.she pulled in her buddy adam sky (formerly adamski) and he twisted into up to a super electro charged remix entitled “it’s bitchin - adam sky bycexual remix”also on this first single is a funky little ditty called “whatcha got”, featuring mike “clip” payne of pfunk (77 - to present), this funky little number will also inspire head bobbing. last but not least, for your listening pleasure is “cocaine talk”, cg’s never done it before, but she heard cocaine makes you talk a lot, so she wrote a song about it. this record has it all, it’s funky, groovy, electroey, hip hoppy, and super bad! basically it’s your new favourite record! Check out her website by any means! It’s at www.crazygirl.info
