new edits projects...

If the releases on our other labels weren’t enough, we’ve also got 3 absolutely devastating Big Bear projects coming up that will be worth their weight in gold…
read on…

We can’t talk too much about who is involved or what the tracks are for obvious reasons but believe when we say that they’ll be on ‘Heavy Heavy Rotation’…

The first 2 projects will feature exclusive re-edits of rare and beautiful disco tracks produced and DJ mixed by our special friends from Canada (where the bears roam free) and Holland (where the bears roam in leather!)…while the 3rd will be a very special limited edition DJ Tools LP from someone closer to home for those creative mixers out there.

We’ll give you more clues nearer their release dates but drop a word to your local retailer to look out for them.

Laj & Quakerman have been dormant (remember what we said about sleeping bears?!) since 2002 and many fans of their tracks on Fiasco and The Idjut Boys’ U-Star will be very excited to hear of their forthcoming monster on Hairy Claw.

New Bear Entertainment release!

new release this week on Bear Entertainment from our budding superstar Arturo Capone. ‘Svolvaer’ has been hot on the lips and top of the wants-lists of many a DJ since it was first played by the likes of Maurice Fulton, Stevie Kotey, Prins Thomas and Bjorn Torske. It’s an atmospheric track to say the least and we know the flip ‘Rego-dancer (Leo’s Revenge)’ will wow you too. Catch his album in June entitled ‘Miocuore’…

Arturo Capone is a name you should know. And you will. Not just for the fact that his surname carries a certain fearsome respect in Italy and abroad. Arturo has been championing the classiest nu-disco sounds at his club ‘Miocuore’ in Pescara, Italy (also the name of his forthcoming album) with guests like the Idjut Boys, Stevie Kotey, Greg Wilson, Maurice Fulton, Joakim and Alden Tyrell and building the most loyal of followings…Stevie Kotey picked up his album on a recent gig there and the first single ‘Svolvaer’ is destined to take Arturo around the world in a Bear disco-dub spaceship. ‘Svolvaer’ is aptly named after Arturo’s favourite place in Norway, a country that has been, in artists originally introduced by Bear Funk like Lindstrom and Prins Thomas, a musical inspiration to him. Arturo adds his own Italian flavours though and even Bear Funk Gold artist Fabrizio Mammarella was enlisted on the guitar-lead flipside track ‘Rego-dancer’. The tracks have already been club-tested by Arturo himself and also his guests Maurice FuIton (Svolvaer) and Bjorn Torske (Rego-dancer). It’s a family affair as they say, but you don’t wanna mess with anyone from the Capone family!

New Bear Funk Gold 12" by Nick Chacona out Monday March 19th

According to a friend from New York, Nick Chacona is into hugging, the smurfs, biting people (and feeling really guilty about it the next day), chewing his moustache, shaving his head, cleaning up cat piss, noodling disco, crying and sharing. Well, he forgot to mention that he’s also been recording some of the finest house music to come out of NYC since 2001. His ‘Angel Dust Swan Dive’ on Bear Funk back in 2005 established him on the international scene but he’s also recorded for labels as respected as Compost, Mood Music, Greyhound and 20:20 Vision. This release sees him delve deep into the guitar dub house that sits so sweetly on Bear Funk Gold, the regenerated ID for a regenerated Bear Funk. A Cambria Heights Affair is sure to please.

Read on for DJ support!…

Geoffroy (Mugwump/Suicide/Hi-P: “splendid grooves, excellent 12’ really like Nick Chacona

Laurent Garnier: “more quality tripy dubby music from the Bear will play of course ”

Michael Rütten (Compost): “bear funk bleibt eines meiner Lieblingslabels , wenn es um Disco Revival geht. A1 ist hier mein Favourite Tune. Funky & FRESH.

Sasse (Mood Music): “wicked EP, nick chacona strikes back in full force
